In a recent announcement, Manningham Housing Association proudly revealed the appointment of Cym D’Souza as their new Vice Chair.

D’Souza, formerly the Chief Executive of Arawak Walton Housing Association in Manchester, concluded her remarkable 25-year tenure last autumn. Her prominence in the UK housing sector extends beyond her executive roles, encompassing a noteworthy stint as the Chair of BME National from 2012 to 2023—the umbrella organization for black and minority ethnic (BME) housing associations.

A qualified chartered accountant, D’Souza’s involvement in various boards in both commercial and housing sectors is extensive. Notably, she recently assumed the role of Vice Chair at Church Housing Association, established by the Church of England following a groundbreaking report by the Archbishops’ Commission on Housing, Church, and Community.

Manningham Housing Association, managing over 1,400 homes for more than 6,000 residents in Bradford and Keighley since its establishment in 1986, has been at the forefront of promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. It holds the distinction of being the first housing association in the country officially accredited for its efforts in this regard and the sole housing association globally to achieve the prestigious Standard for Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management.

Cym D’Souza said; “I am excited to join the Manningham Housing Association Board.

“It has established a well-earned reputation as one of the leading BME housing associations in the country, which not only provides high quality homes for residents but strives to improve the life experiences of the wider communities which surround them.

“I know that exciting plans are in place to build on the progress Manningham Housing Association has made in recent years.

“I look forward to playing my part in delivering them.”

Rupert Pometsey, Manningham Housing Association Chair, said; “It is a delight to welcome Cym as our new Vice Chair.

“She is one of the most respected individuals in housing and brings an unrivalled breadth of experience to the boardroom.

“Cym is also a prominent champion of BME communities which makes her the perfect fit for Manningham Housing Association.”

Lee Bloomfield, Manningham Housing Association Chief Executive said; “I have worked alongside Cym on the Executive Group of BME National for many years.

“Her CV speaks volumes about her achievements and absolute commitment to the task in hand.

“She is a great addition to our Board.”
