In a positive development for families in the Bradford district, a staggering nine out of 10 applicants seeking secondary school placements for September 2024 have been successfully allocated a spot at one of their top three preferred schools. This revelation stems from the recent announcement by Bradford Council, shedding light on the outcomes of the application process for Year 7 places this autumn.

Surpassing expectations, the statistics indicate that over 91% of families have received placement offers at one of their top three choices, with an impressive 79% securing admission to their first preference school. The high success rate is certainly a cause for celebration among parents and guardians.

A total of 8,140 applications flooded Bradford Council for secondary school placements, underscoring the significance of this pivotal transition for families. Today, parents and carers are eagerly checking their emails, which contain information about the schools where their children have been offered placements. For those who preferred a midnight revelation, the council’s online system allowed access to this crucial information.

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for education, employment and skills, said; “It is good that, once again, the overwhelming majority of families across Bradford district have been offered a place at one of their preferred schools.

“Starting secondary school is a big milestone in a young person’s life and we wish all of these young people the very best with the move and hope they are excited about what they will go on to learn, experience and achieve.

“We appreciate how much it means to families to secure a place for their child at the school of their choice and we try very hard to achieve this wherever we possibly can. We continue to work hard to ensure that our secondary schools have the capacity to meet demand for places.”
