RMA Systems, the building energy experts, proudly showcased their top talent during the celebration of National Apprenticeship Week 2024 at Bradford College. Participating in the second-ever Bradford College Apprenticeship Games, they engaged in a friendly competition with other local partners, each fielding a team for a day filled with six exciting challenges.

This year’s challenges, spanning various curriculum specialisms, included popular activities such as Beat the Keeper (by Bradford City AFC), Kick a Conversion (by Bradford Bulls RLFC), Be a Dentist, Flight Simulator, Change a Car Wheel, and Three Minute Omelette (provided by MyLahore restaurants).

Nine employer teams, accompanied by their apprentices, enthusiastically rotated through each challenge, competing for points. The event took place at The Grove training restaurant, where Bradford College students served a delightful lunch.

Securing a total of 41 points, RMA Systems, based in Bradford, claimed the trophy, outpacing Northern Pump Suppliers in second place and JCT600 in third position.

Andy Griffiths, engineering manager at RMA Systems, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It’s been a brilliant day from start to finish. Apprenticeships allow us to bring people in, nurture them, and develop them into the people they want to be. As an employer, you can’t ask for much more than that.”

National Apprenticeship Week serves as a platform to highlight the significant value and opportunities provided by apprenticeships throughout the country. Notable employers participating in this year’s Games included Bradford City AFC, Bradford Bulls RLFC, CBRE, Crowther & Shaw, Electroserve (BFD), Switch2 Energy, and Shaw Trust.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Bradford College Vice Principal Asa Gordon said: “It’s great to see everyone here today supporting apprenticeships locally. We have some fantastic success rates and an amazing, award-winning curriculum with a range of apprenticeships on offer.

“Days like this enable us to promote apprenticeships and talk about them as an alternative where individuals can achieve and be really successful going forward.”
