Police in Heckmondwike are reaching out to the public for assistance in an ongoing investigation following a disturbing affray incident that unfolded on Friday evening.

The Kirklees District CID is urging individuals who witnessed or possess footage of a brawl between two groups of youths to come forward. The altercation occurred on Dale Lane between 10 pm and 10:35 pm on March 1.

Emergency services swiftly responded to reports of the skirmish, revealing that two groups of teenagers engaged in a street fight before dispersing, leaving one male with severe injuries.

A 16-year-old male victim was promptly transported to the hospital to receive treatment for injuries inflicted by a bladed weapon. Fortunately, the injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.

In the aftermath of extensive inquiries, law enforcement apprehended six males aged between 13 and 19 on suspicion of affray. These individuals have undergone questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Diligent efforts have been made by officers from the Batley and Spen NPT to conduct reassurance patrols in the vicinity, maintaining a heightened presence in response to the incident.
