Four individuals have found themselves in legal crosshairs following a probe into cannabis cultivation in the Harehills vicinity of Leeds.

The quartet, apprehended on Thursday subsequent to warrants being executed in Leeds and arrest endeavours in Coventry, are now facing charges in connection to the production of a controlled substance and involvement with illicit assets. This development came about as part of a meticulously coordinated operation.

Remanded in custody, they were due to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court yesterday, Friday the 15th of March.

The accused parties are identified as follows:

  • Mirel Neatu, aged 36, hailing from Brackenwood Drive, Roundhay, Leeds;
  • Amrik Bhachu, aged 56, residing at The Drive, Alwoodley Leeds;
  • Marius Nedelcu, aged 39, domiciled in Signet Square, Coventry; and
  • Seyan Debnath, aged 47, with residence on Lupton Avenue, Harehills, Leeds.

This operation, executed on Thursday, forms a component of the ‘CommUnity Harehills’ project. This initiative, modelled on the ‘Clear, Hold, Build’ strategy propagated by the Home Office, was rolled out in the locale in March 2023.
