LCF Law Leeds, December 19-23

Yorkshire-based law firm LCF Law is pleased to welcome Oliver Wraith back to its specialist debt recovery team. Wraith initially joined the firm in 2019 as an apprentice in the debt recovery division and successfully completed a Level 3 paralegal apprenticeship in 2022. Following this, he embarked on a journey across Southeast Asia before returning to continue his legal career at LCF Law.

Oliver said: “I joined LCF Law straight from college, but I had always hoped to go travelling. I mentioned it to my manager, and he was very supportive. He had also taken a break to do the same thing, so after completing the paralegal apprenticeship, it felt like the right time to fulfil my travelling ambitions.

“I travelled around Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Singapore. My favourite country was Vietnam, as I loved the motorbike culture, as well as the stunning views and mountains. I kept in touch with the team at LCF Law, who were all keen to hear about my experiences when I returned. I’m now completing a bridging course, with two exams before starting the advanced paralegal apprenticeship. This will take another one and a half years, with one day of study each week, alongside being in the office.

“I would recommend apprenticeships to anyone thinking of pursuing a legal career, as you get lots of real experience alongside studying for the qualification. It’s a varied role where I respond to correspondence from clients, help draft legal documents, file documents with the courts and deal with dispute claims hearings. It’s a busy department at LCF Law and the team are super supportive, so it all makes it a great place to work.”

LCF Law’s head of debt recovery, Andrew Langton, said: “It’s great to have Oliver back. When he first started it was just the two of us, and we have now grown to a team of five. We always make sure Oliver has enough variety in his work to help gain the evidence he needs for his apprenticeship and look forward to working with him in this next stage of his career.”

Notably, LCF Law received recognition in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023 list of medium-sized companies and has been shortlisted in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category of The Stray Ferret Harrogate Business Awards. The firm, with over 145 employees, operates from offices in Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, and Ilkley.
