Beware of green-thumbed walkers on March 15th as a special charity fundraising walk graces Holmbridge.

Garden Re-Leaf Day, occurring on March 15th, marks an annual fundraising initiative by the Greenfingers Charity, dedicated to crafting enchanting and therapeutic garden spaces in children’s hospices nationwide. With nearly 70 gardens completed in the 24 years since Greenfingers’ inception and a queue of hospices awaiting transformation, Garden Re-Leaf Day plays a vital role in generating crucial funds for this charitable cause.

The Charity Walk considered a cornerstone of the Garden Re-Leaf Day calendar, sees both new and longstanding supporters don their walking boots to traverse the 12-mile circular route through the unspoiled natural beauty of West Yorkshire, affectionately known as ‘Last of the Summer’ country. Winding through moorlands, riverside paths, picturesque villages, and reservoirs, this walk culminates at The Pickled Pheasant in Holmbridge, where tired walkers are sure to gather late in the afternoon on March 15th.

Join the Walk!

Introduced just last year, the North Walk—simultaneously occurring in Hertfordshire—is rapidly becoming a must-attend event. As the favoured charity of the garden retail sector, the walk sees numerous suppliers from the local area and beyond uniting to raise maximum funds. However, the event warmly welcomes participation from anyone keen on supporting the charity, including local residents and businesses.

For those unable to partake in the walk, various avenues for support exist. You can sponsor the walkers, provide refreshments along the route, or sponsor the event in exchange for acknowledgement on the charity’s website and social media channels.

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity, said: “The Garden Re-Leaf Day Charity Walk is such a superb day and we’re so grateful to the people of Holmbridge and the surrounding areas for their incredible hospitality last year. We’re excited to be back and hope that we might welcome some new walkers and supporters of the event this March. We’ve so many ways to get involved so do invite interested parties to get in touch to find out more.”
