If you’ve ever wondered about the inner sanctums of a church, masjid, mandir, or gurdwara, then the Bradford Faith Trail, set to return on Saturday, 2nd March 2024, is tailor-made for you!
The Bradford Faith Trail presents a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Christian (Roman Catholic and Church of England) faith buildings. It offers insight into the diverse faiths housed within these structures and their connections to Bradford’s local community culture and faith heritage.
Embarking on the Bradford Faith Trail leads you through five captivating places of worship. Visitors have the flexibility to explore as many venues as they desire. Each place of worship will be accessible during designated times, and knowledgeable guides will accompany visitors, answering questions and enhancing the overall informative and enjoyable experience. Attendees will then be guided to the next venue in line.
This Faith Trail unfolds on the first Saturday of each month from March to October and can be comfortably traversed on foot in a single day. The entire journey kicks off at 10 am at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and concludes around 3:45 pm at Bradford Cathedral.
Given the limited spots available on the Faith Trail, advance booking is imperative. To secure your free spot, reach out to Maggie Myers at firstname.lastname@example.org initially or call the Cathedral Office on 01274 77 77 20 between 9 am and 2:45 pm from Monday to Friday.
The deadline for securing your place is the Wednesday preceding each Faith Trail date, which translates to Wednesday, 28th February 2024, for the March booking.
Commencing at St. Peter’s RC Church atop Leeds Road at 10 am, the Trail meanders down Leeds Road, making stops at the Abu Bakar Masjid, the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple, and the Guru Gobind Singh Ji Gurdwara. The journey culminates around 3:45 pm following a tour of Bradford Cathedral and a refreshing break.
Maggie Myers, Director of Education and Visitors at Bradford Cathedral, who co-ordinates the Faith Trail on behalf of all of the places of worship involved, says;
“The Bradford Faith Trail is a truly unique event and one that we encourage everybody in this area and beyond to experience.
“There are so many faith communities living side by side in this small area of Bradford and the Faith Trail offers the chance to look beyond the doors, to see what is inside, to meet members of the communities, to hear a little of what goes on, to ask questions and to spend a fascinating day with people of all faiths and none.”
