In a recent development, PC Benjamin Bottomley, a 21-year-old officer from West Yorkshire Police’s Kirklees District, has been formally charged with serious sexual offences that allegedly occurred while he was off-duty.

PC Bottomley is accused of both rape and sexual assault by penetration, with the charges stemming from incidents involving a single victim. Notably, one of the offences occurred prior to his joining West Yorkshire Police, while the other took place during his time as a student officer. Both incidents were reported to the authorities after PC Bottomley had commenced his employment with the police force.

The accused officer is scheduled to make an appearance at Sheffield Magistrates Court on January 25, where the charges will be further addressed.

Presently, PC Bottomley is suspended from his duties pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.
