Bradford Council’s Champion for Healthy People and Places has expressed gratitude towards the municipality’s waste collection teams, commending their unwavering dedication amid challenging weather conditions. Despite confronting snowy terrain at the close of last week and braving the gusts of Storms Isha and Jocelyn over the subsequent weekend and the initial part of this week, refuse collection services persevered to fulfill their collection duties.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Portfolio Holder for Healthy People and Places, said: “The storms have truly battered our district, bringing trees down, knocking bins over and blowing litter and debris about.

“Yet, our refuse collectors have been completely unfazed by it and diligently carried on with their work. I would like to thank them for doing a first-class job and showing the true grit and determination that we are known for in our district.”

In the aftermath of the inclement weather, the crews undertook the additional responsibility of addressing missed collections in certain areas. Over the past few days, these dedicated teams have toiled relentlessly to catch up on the backlog, successfully reinstating a remarkable 80% of the outstanding collections.
