BBC Three has greenlit a fresh series, “Paddy & Molly: Show No Mersey,” delving into the intertwined professional and personal lives of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stars Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann.
Hailing from Liverpool, the dynamic duo, close friends, and charismatic MMA fighters, have carved a significant niche in the rapidly growing world of UFC. The forthright, humorous, and intimate series will provide an insider’s perspective on Paddy and Molly’s odyssey within and beyond the octagon. Their pivotal fights, defining their legacy in the MMA realm, will unfold amidst the challenges of maintaining relationships with friends and family.
Paddy, notorious for his boldness both inside and outside the cage, contrasts with Molly’s introspective and emotionally candid nature, though equally outgoing. As they navigate their unapologetic careers, sharing inspiring tales and robust personalities, their common drive to succeed and support each other becomes evident on both professional and personal fronts.
The narrative will also spotlight the charm of their Merseyside hometowns, showcasing the rich culture. From the windswept Crosby beaches, where Molly and Paddy walk their dogs, to the bustling Baltic Market housing Molly’s restaurant, viewers will gain a distinctive glimpse into this vibrant UK locale.
Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann say: “We can’t wait for you all to see what a day in the life for us both entails. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and a lot goes into what we do. You won’t believe it until you see it so get watching!”
Steve Regan, Executive Producer for Hello Mary says: “New series are always exciting to create but with characters as brilliant and entertaining as Paddy and Molly and a world that still feels unexplored to many people, this series has made myself and Hello Mary even more excited than usual!”
Nasfim Haque, Head of Content, BBC Three says: “BBC Three has established a track record in lifting the lid on some extraordinary, unexpected yet highly relevant talent to young audiences in the UK, so when we got the opportunity to work with these two brilliant, technicolour sportspeople we simply couldn’t refuse. Prepare yourselves… we cannot wait!”
The show will not only explore their professional endeavours but also provide a peek into their personal lives, introducing Paddy’s wife, Laura, and Molly’s fiancée, Ellis, who play pivotal roles. As Laura is currently expecting twins and the couple has recently purchased their dream home, questions arise about how Paddy will balance his training and fighting career with the demands of a bustling home life.
Meanwhile, as Molly immerses herself in training and global travel for her upcoming fight, the series will unravel the challenges of maintaining quality time at home with Ellis.
With exclusive access to the behind-the-scenes drama, challenges, and humour of mixed martial arts, viewers can anticipate witnessing a side of Paddy and Molly that has never been showcased before.
