A 53-year-old man from Dewsbury has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for committing multiple sexual offences against individuals who utilized his laser hair removal services in Bradford.

Terry James, residing on Halifax Road in Dewsbury, faced charges encompassing 13 counts of assault by penetration, 5 instances of sexual assault, and additional charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

James perpetrated his crimes by surreptitiously recording and photographing his victims while they were ostensibly undergoing treatment at his business establishment on Tong Lane, Bradford.

The sentencing took place at Bradford Crown Court on Friday, 1st December, where James received a 17-year prison term. Additionally, he was mandated to register as a sex offender for life and adhere to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Inspector Ian Cottrell of Bradford District Safeguarding Team said; “James is a vile and dangerous sexual predator who deserves to be behind bars for a very long time.

“He put his victims through a horrific ordeal, they trusted him and he abused it in the most depraved way.

“I hope the victims can get some comfort and justice from the sentence knowing that he will be in prison for 17 years.

“This was a complex investigation in which my team investigated sensitively, supporting the victims throughout. This was highlighted by Judge Sophie McKone who commended DC Becky Allen for her hard work throughout the investigation.

“I hope this case highlights we do take reports of all sexual assaults seriously and we will do everything we can to get justice.”
