Katherine Jenkins OBE, the best-selling Classical Artist of the Century in the UK, is set to return to Wales, taking the lead in a magnificent Christmas concert scheduled to be broadcast on the BBC. Adorned with special guests, unexpected duets, captivating carols, and heartwarming moments, Katherine will spare no effort as she graces Swansea Arena for the very first time.
Notable figures joining Katherine for this dazzling celebration include Welsh acting luminary Michael Sheen, singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, opera singer and Masterchef champion Wynne Evans, and pianist Chloe Flower. Katherine says – “There really is no place like home and performing in Swansea with some of the most talented and special people I know felt like a real gift. The festive season is always my favourite time of the year and for me it’s all about spending time with the people I love and cherish most. I hope this concert being shown on BBC brings even more people together to remind us of what makes Christmas special.”
In addition to Katherine’s visit to the Cardiff Royal Marines—a nod to her commitment to the forces—the programme will also witness Katherine reflecting on a transformative moment in her own past as she visits Tŷ Olwen Hospice, the place of her beloved father’s passing, to honour their remarkable work.
The concert will showcase a 31-piece band conducted by Ken Burton (Black Panther, Gospel Singer of the Year, BBC Proms) and will include some of Katherine’s most beloved hits, festive Christmas carols, and audience favourites.
“Christmas with Katherine Jenkins” is scheduled to air on Saturday, 23 December, at 7:10 pm on BBC Two and BBC One in Wales. The production is handled by Afanti for BBC Wales, with Julian Carey serving as the commissioning editor for BBC Wales, and Emyr Afan and Medwyn Parri as executive producers.
