Huddersfield Town received a belated Christmas present in the form of three goals and three points, courtesy of Jaheim Headley, Sorba Thomas, and Delano Burgzorg, extending the festive spirit in HD1 for a few more days.

Both teams displayed no signs of a post-Christmas slump, exchanging half-chances in the opening five minutes. Blackburn initiated the first attack through Szmodics, attempting a one-two on the edge of the box, but the return pass was misplaced.

Playing with pace, Huddersfield almost capitalized on a break shortly after. Jack Rudoni sent Sorba Thomas down the left, who, in turn, switched play to David Kasumu on the right. Thomas received the cross at the far post but couldn’t keep his swivelled half-volley on target.

Blackburn’s first shot on target came from Niall Ennis, but Chris Maxwell easily collected the weak effort. Huddersfield then applied pressure with back-to-back corners, and Tom Lees headed the second towards goal, but Wahlstedt made a comfortable save.

Delano Burgzorg came close to opening the scoring, displaying skill on the edge of the box and unleashing a shot that was blocked. The ball fell to Wiles, who played it to Kasumu on the right. Sorba Thomas’s clipped effort seemed destined for the corner, but Wahlstedt made a quick save.

Burgzorg showcased his ability again with a charge into the box, performing a Cruyff-turn to beat defenders before firing a shot. Building on this momentum, Huddersfield took the lead as Headley found the net with a well-placed shot.

Kasumu and Burgzorg continued to trouble the Blackburn defense, with Kasumu cheekily maneuvering past a full-back. The first booking of the game went to Blackburn’s Carter for a foul on Burgzorg during a promising run.

In the second half, Blackburn made two changes, bringing on Travis and Garrett. Despite a brief period of dominance for Blackburn, Huddersfield regained control. Sorba Thomas, set up by Burgzorg, doubled the lead with a clinical finish.

Huddersfield made a double substitution, introducing Koroma and Ayina. Koroma quickly made an impact, setting up Burgzorg for the third goal. The team managed the rest of the game professionally, securing the most comprehensive result and performance of the Moore era. The victory brings Huddersfield within three points of today’s opponents in the Sky Bet Championship.
