The much-anticipated second series of The Tourist is set to premiere on the BBC on New Year’s Day. All episodes will be accessible on BBC iPlayer from 6 am on Monday, 1 January, and the first episode will be broadcast on BBC One at 9 pm. The Tourist series two will feature the return of Jamie Dornan (Belfast, The Fall) and Danielle Macdonald (Unbelievable, Dumplin’), both nominated for BAFTA and Golden Globe awards. This six-part thriller is the creation of Jack and Harry Williams and is produced by the award-winning Two Brothers Pictures.

Set against the captivating backdrop of Ireland, Elliot and Helen find themselves entangled with friends and foes. While they strive to unveil the mysteries of Elliot’s past, they become embroiled in a longstanding family feud, facing the perilous consequences of his previous actions.

The first series garnered 11.4 million viewers in the UK at its launch and holds the distinction of being the most-watched drama of 2022 across all platforms. Internationally, the show achieved sales across five continents, reaching audiences from South Korea to Scandinavia. It received acclaim by winning three Golden Nymph Awards at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, including the prestigious Best Series accolade.

The Tourist series two is a production of Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) for the BBC, in collaboration with Stan, ZDF, and All3Media International. It is created and written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing, Baptiste, Fleabag). Fergus O’Brien (Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack) directed the opening block, with Johann Perry (Happy Valley, Gentleman Jack) serving as the Director of Photography. Blocks two and three were directed by Lisa Mulcahy (Blood, Years and Years) and Kate Dolan (Kin, You Are Not My Mother), respectively. Alex Mercer (Inside Man, Crossfire) is the producer, and Louise Kiely (The Banshees of Inisherin, Normal People) serves as the casting director. Executive producers include Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing, Baptiste, The Tourist), Sarah Hammond (Back to Life, Fleabag, The Tourist), and Daniel Walker (Boat Story, The Tourist) for Two Brothers Pictures, along with Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC and Jamie Dornan.
