Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Shelf on 20 October sadly confirm a second fatality.
The incident occurred at 11.17 pm on 20 October on Brow Lane, where a white Seat Ibiza collided with a wall.
The driver, 19-year-old Joe Walsh, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Eighteen-year-old Toby Barraclough, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to the hospital in critical condition and unfortunately passed away on 12 November from his injuries.
Four other passengers in the vehicle at the time received medical attention for their injuries.
The family of Toby have paid tribute to him, in a statement they said:
“Toby was a fun loving, energetic, fiercely competitive sporty young man. He was loved by so many people and his family will miss him so much. He would however want everybody close to him to live their lives to the full, with him in their hearts.”
Authorities continue to appeal to anyone who was driving in the area or resides near Halifax Road and Brow Lane to review their dashcam or CCTV for relevant footage that could aid the investigation.
MCET officers are also eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the white Seat Ibiza on Halifax Road or observed it being driven in the vicinity before the collision.
