Radio 2 and BBC Sounds are set to host a Superstar Sunday on December 3, 2023, featuring Peter Kay, Barbra Streisand, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, says: “Superstar Sunday on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds will be very special indeed. Peter Kay speaking exclusively to our very own Steve Wright is Sunday morning gold, and Michael sitting down with Barbra Streisand and Nicole Scherzinger is sure to be a joyous listen!”

In Steve Wright’s Peter Kay Christmas Special (10 am – 11 am), Steve engages in a one-off Christmas treat with the beloved comedian and TV star, Peter Kay. During this exclusive hour-long show, Peter shares his favourite songs, reminisces about his best-selling memoir, “TV: Big Adventures on the Small Screen,” and discusses his childhood fascination with TV, which paved the way for his comedy career. The show includes entertaining anecdotes, such as Peter and a barking dog almost upstaging Sir Paul McCartney on the world’s biggest stage. Peter also presents his rendition of the Blockbusters theme and features music from the TV shows that shaped his upbringing. Peter’s special will be broadcast on Sunday, December 3rd, from 10 am to 11 am and available on BBC Sounds (BBC Audio production).

Peter says: “What an early festive treat it was for me to chat to broadcasting legend Steve Wright. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope everybody else does too. Feliz Navidad.”

Steve says: “I am Peter’s biggest fan and I’m also pleased to call him my friend so please tune in for this very special radio programme.”

In The Michael Ball Show (11 am – 1 pm), Michael welcomes two award-winning megastars, Barbra Streisand and Nicole Scherzinger. Michael, a lifelong fan of Barbra Streisand, discusses her autobiography, “My Name Is Barbra,” and recounts listening to her records as a young boy in South Africa. The interview covers topics such as Streisand’s childhood, her struggles with stage fright, and her pride in her son Jason Gould’s singing career. Michael is also joined by Nicole Scherzinger, known for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in London’s West End. The show will be broadcast on Sunday, December 3rd, from 11 am to 1 pm and available on BBC Sounds (a Listen Entertainment production).

Michael says: “I feel very lucky to be speaking to two of the world’s most loved singers on my Sunday morning show. I’m looking forward to chatting to Barbra about her incredible new book, as well as hearing about her childhood, her struggles with stage fright, and her love for cooking! I will be quizzing Nicole about her stunning portrayal of Norma Desmond that’s currently wowing the West End, her life in London and whatever else takes our fancy.“

Both programmes will be accessible on BBC Sounds for 30 days after their Radio 2 broadcast.
