Police are seeking information to help identify an individual involved in a distraction burglary that occurred in Meltham, near Holmfirth. The victim, a woman in her 80s, fell prey to the incident.
The suspect visited the woman’s residence between 5:45 pm and 6:45 pm on Monday, November 6, claiming to be selling items. After being welcomed inside, he stayed for approximately 10 minutes before departing. It was later discovered that the woman’s purse had been stolen, and her bank card was subsequently used in three nearby shops.
During the same timeframe, a group of males was observed knocking on doors in the area. They informed residents that they had travelled from the North East of England.
