Madonna Louise Ciccone, globally renowned as one of the greatest pop icons, will be honoured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds this New Year’s Day with a three-hour show (2-5 pm) titled “Your Ultimate Madonna Song.” The program will showcase the top 40 favourite songs as voted by Radio 2 listeners, and a new Madonna Collection will be featured on BBC Sounds.

The voting initiative commenced on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Monday, 27 November, and will conclude on Friday, 8 December at 4 pm. Listeners can cast their votes for up to five of their preferred tracks from Madonna’s impressive 61 Top Ten UK hits at http://www.bbc.co.uk/madonnavote. Scott Mills will host the Top 40 countdown, providing intriguing facts, statistics, and exclusive insights from archive interviews with Madonna and collaborators like Nile Rodgers and William Orbit. Renowned fans such as Alesha Dixon, Gabrielle, Louise, Vicky McClure, Mark Owen, Faye Tozer, and others will express their admiration for the iconic artist. “Your Ultimate Madonna Song” will be exclusively available on BBC Sounds from Boxing Day (00.01).

In “Michelle Visage: My Queen – Madonna,” Michelle pays tribute to the biggest-selling female artist in history and her idol. The show delves into Michelle’s personal journey, celebrating Madonna’s impact on music, videos, tours, films, costumes, interviews, and her support for the LGBTQIA+ community. The hour-long show airs on Radio 2 from 5-6 pm on New Year’s Day.

Madonna at the BBC features archive interviews discussing Madonna’s rise to fame, ambition, reinvention, and controversies, along with key songs. Madonna reflects on her years in dance, electronic music, and disco, as well as her acting career. The show includes interviews from various points in her career, highlighting her personality, bold style, and preparation for tours and studio recording. It will be broadcast on Radio 2 from 6-7 pm on New Year’s Day.

Madonna, an indisputable force in the history of music, has spent over ten years in the UK Top 40. With 61 Top Ten Hits in the UK, including thirteen number ones, Madonna continues to be a significant presence in the music industry.

Past Radio 2 listener votes have crowned “Careless Whisper” as the fans’ favourite George Michael song in 2022, and “Never Forget” as the favourite Take That song in 2023.
