Leeds United maintained their impressive record at home with a crucial 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Elland Road.

The match began with Leeds United showing superiority. Following some slick passing on the edge of the box, Crysencio Summerville set up Georginio Rutter for a goal-scoring opportunity. Although the striker was brought down before taking his shot, the referee dismissed the penalty appeals.

The home team had another significant chance shortly after. Dan James raced past the Argyle defence and delivered a cross to the back post, but a last-ditch block prevented the in-form Summerville from connecting with it.

In the 20th minute, the Whites took the lead. Georginio penetrated the box, was halted, and as Argyle attempted to clear, the ball reached Dan James on the edge of the box. He skillfully curled his effort into the top corner.

Leeds found the back of the net for the second time a few minutes later. Joel Piroe regained possession high up in the Plymouth half, executed a smart exchange with Summerville, and slotted the ball past Michael Cooper for his sixth goal of the season.

Before halftime, Geoginio Rutter intercepted a loose pass from the Argyle defence, drove into the box, and unleashed a left-footed strike that Cooper palmed away.

Leeds dominated the first half, but an offside flag disallowed Summerville’s well-finished goal, leaving the score at 2-0 going into the break.

The second half saw both teams unchanged, and the game’s dynamics remained consistent. Summerville dazzled down the left-hand side, cut a pass back to Piroe, whose shot was saved by the visiting keeper.

Georginio had another opportunity to extend the lead. Summerville bypassed the Argyle defence once again, providing a pass to Georginio, whose close-range effort narrowly cleared the bar.

Chances continued for Daniel Farke’s side in the second half. Georginio’s clever turn to lose his defender resulted in a cross towards Piroe, whose header narrowly missed the target.

A promising opportunity came for second-half substitute Jaidon Anthony, cutting inside from the left and curling a right-footed shot towards the far corner. However, Cooper pushed the effort behind for a Plymouth corner.

Against the run of play, Argyle managed to pull one back. Luke Cundle surged down the right wing, delivering a low cross that found Ben Waine at the back post, tapping it home from close range.

The goal set the stage for a tense finish at Elland Road, but it turned out to be the final notable action as the referee blew the whistle, securing another three points for the home side.
