Are you weary of the daily grind of traffic jams, parking difficulties, and the strain of your commute? It’s time to effect a change and embark on a journey towards greener, healthier, and more eco-friendly transportation options.

Kirklees Council is collaborating with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to promote the ‘Walk it. Ride it’ campaign. It is designed to motivate you to alter your commute and make a positive impact on our environment, and it will be launched next week.

The “Walk it. Ride it.” campaign has a clear objective – ‘to diminish car dependency and advocate sustainable alternatives in our region’. We aim to augment the number of journeys made on foot, by bicycle, and via public transport to and from our town centres.

It’s all about making the appropriate choice for each specific journey and supporting our environment. Now is the time to leave your car at home and explore the numerous transportation options conveniently accessible at your doorstep.

A spokesperson for Kirklees Council said; “Everyone in Kirklees can get involved. Whether you’re a daily commuter, a leisure traveller, a student, or a parent, we’re reaching out to you. But we’re not stopping there. We’re also engaging with businesses and employers who rely on a strong transport network to ensure their employees can get to work and their customers can be reached. Third-sector organisations, including community groups and passenger groups, are also vital partners in spreading our campaign’s message.

“We’ve made it easy for you to get involved, here’s what you can do:

“Explore inspiring stories from local Kirklees resident Patrice on her cycle journey and see how others have already made the switch to walking, cycling, and taking the bus for their daily journeys. Their experiences will show you that making a change is not only possible but rewarding.”

“Discover the wide range of transportation options available in Kirklees, including amazing walking and cycling routes and an extensive range of bus routes. The choices are limitless! Plan your bus journey in advance with the MCard app, which offers simple ticketing solutions and convenience.

“Boost your confidence in walking and cycling with free adult cycle training. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

“Get involved and let’s all work towards a more sustainable future. The www.walkitrideitwy.com website is your gateway to a world of eco-friendly travel options and resources that will transform your commute.

“Let’s make a change Kirklees! It’s time to be part of the solution and create a brighter, more sustainable future for our region.”

Whether you’re commuting to work, school, or simply exploring our beautiful towns, villages and countryside, the “Walk it. Ride it.” campaign is here to inspire and support you.
