Additional casting details have been revealed for the upcoming BBC crime thriller, “The Jetty,” featuring Jenna Coleman, known for her roles in “Doctor Who,” “The Cry,” and “The Serpent.” The series is penned by writer Cat Jones and produced by Firebird Pictures, set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Joining Jenna Coleman in the series are Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone,” “Morbius,” “Gold Digger”), Laura Marcus (“The Great Escaper,” “Bad Education,” “The Serpent Queen”), Bo Bragason (“The Ballad of Renegade Nell,” “The Radleys”), Amelia Bullmore (“Happy Valley,” “Vienna Blood,” “Gentleman Jack”), Ruby Stokes (“Lockwood & Co.,” “Rocks,” “Una”), Tom Glynn-Carney (“House of the Dragon,” “Dunkirk,” “The King”), Weruche Opia (“High Desert,” “Slumberland,” “I May Destroy You”), Matthew McNulty (“The Rising,” “Domina,” “The Terror”), Ralph Ineson (“Nosferatu,” “The Witch,” “Green Knight”), David Ajala (“Italian Studies”), Nina Barker-Francis (“The Flash”), Miya Ocego (“Wreck,” “I Hate Suzie”), Elliot Cowan (“Fifteen-Love,” “The Crown”), Shannon Watson, Arthur Hughes (“Then Barbara Met Alan,” “Help”), and Dominic Coleman (“Paddington,” “Trollied”).
Set across four episodes, the series delves into a blaze that engulfs a vacation home in a picturesque Lancashire lakeside town. Detective Ember Manning must unravel its connection to a podcast journalist probing a long-cold case of missing persons and an illicit entanglement involving a man in his twenties and two underage girls.
Yet, as Ember edges closer to the truth, her own life hangs in the balance, compelling her to re-examine all she believed about her past, her present, and the town she’s always called home.
As much a tale of self-discovery as a crime mystery, “The Jetty” confronts significant questions about sexual ethics, individual identity, and memory, in the spaces that the Me Too movement may have overlooked.
Writer, Creator and Executive Producer, Cat Jones, says: “I’m thrilled to have such an amazing cast join Jenna Coleman in The Jetty. It’s been incredibly exciting to see my characters being brought to life by such a talented group of actors.”
Produced by Firebird Pictures, a production label within BBC Studios, “The Jetty” was written and conceived by Cat Jones. The director is Marialy Rivas, known for works like “Young & Wild,” “Perry Mason,” and “Princesita.” The executive producers include Elizabeth Kilgarriff, Sarah Wyatt, Cat Jones, Marialy Rivas, Jenna Coleman, and Jo McClellan for the BBC. BBC Studios will handle the series’ international distribution.
