Police in Wakefield are currently probing a break-in at a Sainsbury’s outlet on Alverthorpe Road that occurred earlier today.
The authorities were alerted just past 1:30 am about an incident involving a JCB forklift crashing into the store.
By the time the police arrived, the culprits had already fled the scene.
Interestingly, a cash machine that was damaged in the process was left behind.
Near the premises, food items presumably stolen from the store were discovered.
The building suffered significant damage, and the area is still cordoned off as investigations continue.
A man has been taken into custody in relation to the crime.
Wakefield CID is urging anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward to do so, citing reference 13230615372.
