ITV has revealed that a fresh series of Celebrity Big Brother is set to hit ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player in 2024.
Developed by Initial, a part of Banijay UK, the globally renowned television phenomenon, Big Brother, made its debut on its new platform this autumn, drawing in 3.6 million viewers across ITV1, STV, ITV2, and ITVX in a groundbreaking multi-channel takeover. Building on the triumph of the inaugural series, a high-profile celebrity edition is scheduled to grace the screens of ITV1 and STV next year.
In Celebrity Big Brother, a novel ensemble of well-known personalities will undergo isolation from the external world as they immerse themselves in the ultimate social experiment within the iconic Big Brother house. Abandoning luxury, the celebrities will engage in weekly nominations and challenging tasks, with cameras documenting their every move. The burning question remains: Who will capture the nation’s hearts, persevere until the end, and claim the coveted title?
Each evening, Celebrity Big Brother will be followed by Celebrity Big Brother: Late & Live, presenting viewers with an additional hour of exclusive content. Airing on ITV2 and ITVX, Celebrity Big Brother: Late & Live will once again serve as the exclusive venue for the first live interviews with the evicted celebrities, accompanied by an array of must-watch exclusive features, including access to the camera runs, special guest commentary, and debates.
The return of the Celebrity Big Brother: Live Stream is also on the horizon, airing seven nights a week on ITVX and STV Player. This feature allows fans to witness live footage into the wee hours following Celebrity Big Brother: Late & Live.
In addition to Celebrity Big Brother, other reality commissions slated for 2024 include Love Island: All Stars, a second series of My Mum, Your Dad, and the eagerly anticipated The Fortune Hotel.
Celebrity Big Brother is commissioned for ITV1, STV, and ITVX by Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller of ITV2 and ITVBe, along with Peter Tierney, Commissioning Editor. The revival of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother was secured by Natalka Znak and Claire O’Donohoe, leading entertainment and format producers at Initial (part of the Banijay Group), marking their first of many format deals for the business since joining in 2022. Initial’s Managing Director, Katy Manley, and Creative Director, Tamsin Dodgson, oversee Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother.
Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2 and ITVBe said:
“The reception from our viewers to Big Brother’s return has been fantastic. We’re therefore thrilled to announce that we’ll be bringing our very own celebrity edition to ITV1 and ITVX next year. Casting is underway to find a new batch of famous faces who are sure to provide more iconic and unmissable BB moments.”
Natalka Znak, CEO of Initial, Remarkable Entertainment and Znak TV added; “The launch series on ITV2 has been so much fun to make and we’re glad Big Brother has found a whole new audience on ITV2. It’s been a joy working with ITV and we’re excited to do it all over again and this time with celebrities and on ITV1.”
