The family of a motorcyclist from Huddersfield, who tragically lost his life in a collision on Saturday, has issued a tribute as police investigations continue.
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) can now officially confirm the identity of the man who died in the collision on New Hey Road on Saturday as 36-year-old David Milnes from Huddersfield.
David’s family said in a statement: “David was a much loved and loving member of a large family, who are devastated. He will be enormously missed by all who knew him.”
MCET is still appealing for witnesses and footage related to the collision involving David’s yellow Yamaha R6 and a silver Nissan Qashqai at approximately 6:48 pm on Saturday, November 11, at the junction of New Hey Road and Fortis Way.
The incident occurred when the Nissan Qashqai made a right turn onto Fortis Way and collided with the yellow Yamaha R6. The Qashqai was heading towards Huddersfield on New Hey Road, while the R6 was travelling in the opposite direction just before the collision.
Another male on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The car’s driver, who remained at the scene, was unharmed and cooperated with the police during the interview.
Anyone who witnessed the collision has footage, or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash is urged to contact MCET at 101, referencing police log 1380 of November 11. Information can also be provided online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat.
