BBC Radio 5 Live revealed today that host Colin Murray will be transitioning from his current late weeknight slot (10 pm – 1 am) to helm a fresh programme on Sunday mornings (10 am – 12 pm).

Commencing on January 14, from 10 am to 12 pm, the former Fighting Talk presenter will lead a revamped Sunday morning sports show on BBC Radio 5 Live. This production will be handled by Underground Fan Club, an indie production company led by Charlie Copsey.

The upcoming show aims to be a lively start to an afternoon filled with top-notch sporting action, delivering substantial conversations, compelling stories, and extensive audience interaction to listeners across the UK. It is positioned as an ideal prelude to 5 Live’s sports-centric Sundays.

In addition to Sunday mornings, Colin will also take the helm on 5 Live on Friday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm, presenting the latest news and sports stories of the day, starting on January 12.

Reflecting on the new venture, Colin expressed, “Leaving Weeknights has been a truly tough decision. I cherish my listeners, but due to personal scheduling issues, a change was necessary. I am thrilled to make appearances on Friday afternoons and introduce a fresh Sunday morning show on BBC 5 Live, bridging the gap perfectly between our weekend breakfast and Premier League Sundays. Can’t wait!”

Heidi Dawson, Controller of 5 Live, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “I am eagerly anticipating hearing Colin every week on a Sunday morning. It will be the perfect way to commence our extensive sports coverage and commentaries on Sundays.”
