Children and young individuals can anticipate a joyful and wholesome Christmas, courtesy of a variety of complimentary activities, holiday clubs, and enjoyable days provided through the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) by Bradford Council.

The HAF programme grants complimentary access to holiday clubs for children receiving benefit-related free school meals or those with special educational needs or disabilities.

During the upcoming school holiday, over 90 diverse clubs will be in operation. These clubs, conducted by various organizations across the entire district, encompass schools, community groups, faith groups, charities, and sports clubs, including Bradford City and Bradford Bulls. Each club offers free entertaining activities and a nutritious meal for eligible children.

The clubs present a broad spectrum of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, drama, visits to pantomimes, ice skating, and cinema outings. Additionally, there is an opportunity to gain insights into food and nutrition, socialize, have a good time, and form new friendships.

A total of 4,500 complimentary slots are available for eligible children, and bookings are currently being accepted. Parents and guardians can easily register their child to explore available activities and reserve a spot with the provider at

Families are encouraged to make early bookings to avoid disappointment since spaces are limited and tend to fill up rapidly.

Cllr Imran Khan, Bradford Council Portfolio Holder for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “Many families across Bradford District are having a tough time right now because of the high cost of living and it is even more challenging at this time of year.

“There is a huge range of activities happening, with free meals provided at each session. I’d urge all eligible families to book onto HAF and have fun over the holidays.”

HAF receives funding from the Department for Education.
