“The Traitors” will be returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer for its third series, and applications are now open for those interested in participating in the game. This announcement precedes the highly anticipated second series, which will be coming soon.
Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, “The Traitors” is an intense psychological reality competition where 22 strangers engage in the ultimate game of detection, betrayal, and trust, all in the hopes of winning up to £120,000.
In the last series, “The Traitors” garnered an audience of 21 million, making it the biggest new entertainment launch for the BBC since 2021. It also stood as the most prominent new series for young audiences across all BBC titles in 2022, and the highest-rated new entertainment series on the BBC for young audiences since at least 2017.
This year, “The Traitors” received several awards, including the BAFTA TV Award for Best Reality & Constructed Factual, the NTA for Reality Competition, the RTS award for Entertainment, and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Entertainment Programme. Claudia Winkleman also received accolades, including the BAFTA TV Award for Best Entertainment Performance, the RTS award for Entertainment Performance, and the Edinburgh TV Festival Variety Outstanding Achievement Award.
