Nigella Lawson is set to make a return to the BBC this Christmas with her special programme, “Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas Special”. This enchanting 60-minute show will air on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
For many years now, Nigella has made it a tradition to spend her Christmases in Amsterdam. In this special, she’ll share the reasons behind her deep affection for this splendid city during the festive season. She’ll vividly portray the captivating sight of lights dancing on the canals, the lively holiday spirit, and the mesmerising ambience that earned Amsterdam its moniker, the ‘Venice of the North’.
During her sojourn, Nigella will explore Christmas Fairs, artisanal food shops, and her preferred locales in this historically and architecturally rich city. Here, she will gather the essential ingredients for her holiday feasts, finding moments of serenity and introspection amidst the cheerful chaos, all in a bid to infuse her home with the true essence of Christmas.
Her culinary creations draw inspiration from the local flavours of both Dutch and Indonesian traditions that thrive in Amsterdam. The result is a selection of dishes that are not only delectable but also manageable, ensuring a joyous and hassle-free Christmas celebration!
This festive special has been filmed in both London and Amsterdam, and it promises to bring to audiences the familiar, charismatic, and enchanting style that they have come to associate with Nigella. With her unique narrative style and easily achievable recipes, she guides us through a very personal exploration of Amsterdam at Christmas.
