Marine caused a significant upset in the FA Cup by defeating FC Halifax Town. Former Shaymen midfielder, Louis White, secured Marine’s victory with a goal in the first half during the Fourth Round qualifying stage.

In the 8th minute, the Shaymen fell behind 1-0 when Andrew Oluwabori lost possession in his own half from a throw-in. This allowed Louis White to face Johnson one-on-one and successfully slot the ball past the keeper.

Marine’s winger, Sol Solomon, came close to making it 2-0 in the 15th minute. He skillfully bypassed full-back Ryan Galvin and attempted to slip the ball past Johnson from a challenging angle. However, Captain Sam Johnson made a crucial save.

Tylor Golden had an excellent opportunity to equalise in the 35th minute, as Andrew Oluwabori sent the ball through to the right-back who had plenty of space to advance into. Unfortunately, his shot went well over.

In the 66th minute, Felix Goddard prevented his team from conceding as a well-executed move by Halifax culminated in a cross from Ryan Galvin being met by forward Aaron Cosgrave. Goddard punched the ball away, resulting in a corner.

Halifax’s Florent Hoti had the most promising chance of the game in the 85th minute. Ryan Galvin made a strong run into the box and passed it back to the midfielder, but he missed wide of the target.

This ultimately marked the last significant opportunity of the match, as Marine’s solid defence secured another surprising victory in the FA Cup.
