The BBC has acquired the Emmy-nominated series “Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico” from CNN Original Series, a production following the acclaimed actress, producer, and director Eva Longoria as she delves into the culinary heritage of her ancestral lands. The series aims to unveil how Mexico’s terrain and history have contributed to shaping one of the world’s most diverse and thrilling cuisines.

Commencing on Sunday, 8th October 2023, at 7:20 pm, each of the six episodes, available on BBC Two and iPlayer, will witness Longoria exploring a distinct region, demonstrating the fusion of ancient and contemporary elements within Mexican cuisine. Additionally, she will emphasise the profound cultural significance of food in each region. The culinary revelations from each leg of her journey narrate tales that span centuries, featuring dishes that have transcended borders and cultural traditions passed down through generations.

Longoria’s journey encompasses Mexico City, her second home, illustrating the constant evolution of the city’s culinary landscape. Her visit to Oaxaca harmonises the stunning mountainous vistas with globally acclaimed ingredients. Her excursions through Veracruz, the port linking Mexico with the wider world, showcase how the city’s flavours and ardour have extended far beyond Mexican boundaries.

Eva Longoria says: “As a Mexican-American, this show allowed me to connect with my roots in a profound way, exploring the rich culinary heritage of the land of my ancestors. Through this journey, I discovered the magic that lies within Mexican cuisine, where history, culture, and flavor converge. I can’t wait to share the stories, traditions, and the incredible diversity of Mexican food with audiences on BBC Two and iPlayer. It’s a celebration of Mexico’s culinary legacy, and I hope it inspires everyone to embark on their own culinary adventures.”

The series was produced by CNN Original Series and the London-based film and television production company RAW. This team also brought Stanley Tucci’s culinary expeditions across Italy to global audiences in the two-time Primetime Emmy® Award-winning “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” currently available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
