Adventurer Simon Reeve embarks on an epic journey deep into the heart of some of Earth’s final untamed regions in a groundbreaking four-part series for BBC Two and iPlayer: “Wilderness with Simon Reeve”. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Despite our increasingly crowded planet, there remain a handful of remote areas where nature still reigns supreme – the last great wildernesses. In this series, Simon Reeve endeavours to traverse four of these, delving deeper into the unfamiliar than ever before, aiming to unlock their mysteries and witness the natural world in its most exquisite and delicate state.

Simon’s odyssey takes him through the spectacular Coral Triangle of the Pacific Ocean, the expansive Congo Rainforest of Africa, the sweeping expanse of the Kalahari desert, and the awe-inspiring terrain of Patagonia. Along his journey, Simon immerses himself in the lives of those who call these wild places home, seeking to comprehend their harmonious coexistence with nature and learn what actions we can all take to safeguard the planet’s greatest marvels for generations to come.

Simon says: “These have been the most extraordinary journeys and expeditions I’ve ever undertaken. They were knackering, sweaty, draining, emotional, inspiring and occasionally scary. But always bloody brilliant.”

He added, “Our planet is sublimely beautiful. What an incredible wild home we still have to look after and celebrate. We travelled and trekked deep into some of our last great wilderness areas, to capture their beauty, meet the people who live there, and find some of the most spectacular wildlife on the planet, including giant whale sharks, pumas, and bonobos, perhaps our closest relatives.”

Sam Bagnall, Executive Producer, Wilderness with Simon Reeve, The Garden says: “For almost two decades, Simon has brought us stories from every corner of the world. This is his most ambitious series yet – brutally tough journeys to some of the most remote regions of the planet. Viewers are going to be treated to incredible characters and awesome landscapes, in some of the last great wildernesses.”

Jack Bootle, BBC Head of Commissioning, Specialist Factual added: “Simon’s one of the most intrepid and entertaining adventurers on the planet, this series pushes him to his limits. He’s going further from the beaten track than ever and shining a light on some of our most precious habitats. There couldn’t be a more important time for this spectacular undertaking.”

“Wilderness with Simon Reeve” is produced for BBC Two by The Garden, a division of ITV Studios. It is both written and presented by Simon Reeve, Executive Produced by Sam Bagnall, and Series Produced and Directed by Chris Mitchell.
