The West Yorkshire Police have been made aware of an email that was dispatched to several schools in Leeds and Bradford today.
The police are currently conducting an inquiry into the contents of the email. They are also offering support and guidance on safety measures to the affected schools.
Officers have initiated an investigation into a potential case of malicious communications and have taken an individual into custody in relation to this incident.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson; “We are aware that schools in other parts of the country have received similar malicious emails in recent days.
“It is important to note that, contrary to some reports, the police force has not issued any directives for schools to initiate a ‘lockdown’, nor have they affirmed the credibility of the threats.”
