Renowned football commentator Guy Mowbray, known for his distinctive voice in top-tier football, is set to provide the commentary for Gladiators, the iconic and thrilling sports entertainment show making its debut on BBC One and iPlayer.
Guy, who has lent his voice to BBC Sport for prestigious events like the Africa Cup of Nations, European Championship, FA Cup, and Premier League, captivated millions of viewers in the summer of 2021 with his live commentary of the Euros final, capturing Italy’s historic victory over England on BBC Television. His unique voice is also featured in the EA Sports FC 24 game.
In this new role, Guy will be delivering the play-by-play commentary for the show, as courageous contenders face formidable challenges posed by the mighty Gladiators.

Produced by Hungry Bear and MGM Alternative UK for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, Gladiators (consisting of 11 episodes, each lasting 60 minutes) was commissioned by Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted. The Executive Producers are Dan Baldwin and Lou Brown for Hungry Bear, and Dom Bird for MGM Alternative UK. Kalpna Patel-Knight serves as the Head of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC, with Clodagh O’Donoghue as the Commissioning Editor.
The original American Gladiators series was conceived by Johnny C. Ferraro and Dan Carr, with further development by Johnny C. Ferraro.
