The highly acclaimed Channel 4 documentary series, “Geordie Hospital,” is making its eagerly awaited return with a fresh series airing every Wednesday at 8pm starting from the 6th of September.

This heartwarming 6-episode series, each lasting 60 minutes, continues to shine a spotlight on the dedicated and joyful staff of Newcastle Hospitals as they go about their daily shifts. From world-class medical professionals who perform life-transforming surgeries to the steadfast support teams that make it all possible, this series is a celebration of their remarkable contributions.

The remarkable ensemble of staff members, who come together to provide exceptional care, can be found in every nook and cranny of the hospital. They include porters and surgeons, housekeepers and midwives, nurses and even the local fruit stall vendors. Each one of them possesses the distinctive warmth and sense of humour characteristic of Geordie culture.

Newcastle boasts one of the largest and most distinguished Hospital Trusts in the United Kingdom. Around the clock, every day, the hospital is witness to astounding feats of resilience in the face of adversity, groundbreaking medical procedures, exceptional skills, and the tender, compassionate care provided by its staff.

Among the stories featured in this series are the tale of top heart surgeon Asif, who performs a life-saving valve replacement surgery on 13-year-old Seb; surgeon Peter, who operates on 3-month-old Amelia, born with a cleft lip and palate; neurosurgeon Claire, who performs a delicate operation on Jen, who has spina bifida, entangling her spinal nerves; and hospital chaplain Katie, who is training the new staff welfare dog, Fern.

Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor, Rita Daniels said, “We are very proud that Geordie Hospital is returning to Channel 4 for a second instalment. The successful first series was in the top five new 8pm weekday series in 2022. Curve Wales has once again produced an uplifting series that shows the incredible and inspiring work of the hospital staff and their enthusiasm, passion and dedication in providing care to their patients.”

“We are delighted to be back with the brilliant and kind-hearted team at Newcastle Hospital. A joy to watch them as they help people, save lives and keep the hospital going. Such an incredible and sometimes funny team, a pleasure to work with them”, commented Camilla Lewis/Rob Carey, CEO Curve Media.

Dame Jackie Daniel, Chief Executive of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust commented, “We were delighted to welcome the cameras back to Newcastle Hospitals last year, to film series two of Geordie Hospital. It’s a pleasure to see our extremely valued and hardworking clinical and support staff – and for the first time – our midwives, as they provide the very best care for our patients. I hope it provides a glimpse into the care and compassion that the team provide every day. I’m very grateful to all of our staff and patients who gave their time to help make this programme. We really hope you all enjoy it.”
