Officials from the Highways Department of Bradford Council have collaborated with the police to enhance road safety on a road situated above Steeton.
The proposed plan entails modifying the speed limit on a stretch of Redcar Lane/Barrow Lane, where several accidents have occurred upon entering the village.
The measures set forth by Bradford Council encompass an extension of the 20mph zone and the establishment of a new 30mph buffer zone between the 20mph limit and the unrestricted rural road.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Transport and Planning said “This is another example of the pro-active approach to casualty prevention work happening in the district. Our data led capital programme along with partnership working with the police, and important local knowledge from Ward Councillors and the public, has led to the development of a solution to reduce the number of speed related collisions at this location in Steeton.”
