For the very first time, the BBC will be live-streaming all the coverage and ceremonies of the Invictus Games on BBC iPlayer and Red Button.

The coverage will kick off on iPlayer and Red Button at 6pm on Saturday, 9th September. Viewers will have the opportunity to stream up to three events daily throughout the Games, with coverage concluding on Saturday, 16th September.

The One Show will also be at the heart of the action, delivering the latest news and interviews from Dusseldorf throughout the week. JJ Chalmers will be accompanied by special guests, delving into the inspiring stories of recovery and rehabilitation from the athletes competing.

The sixth edition of the Games will commence with the Opening Ceremony, where competitors from 21 nations will be welcomed by Prince Harry and treated to a performance by American rapper Macklemore.

JJ Chalmers says: “The Invictus Games is so much more than a sports competition. The sport is fantastic and the competition is amazing, but actually, that is just the vehicle through which the competitors shine. Seeing them have an impact on their own physical and mental recovery and improving the lives of their family around them is inspiring.”

Dan McGolpin, Director, BBC iPlayer & Channels, says: “We’re excited to bring The Invictus Games to the UK on BBC iPlayer and Red Button where we will be streaming all the live action straight from Dusseldorf. Our viewers will be able to follow a huge range of inspirational athletes as they compete in many thrilling events.”

Alex McLeod, BBC Commissioner, The One Show, says: “It’s great that we can be a part of this special coverage of The Invictus Games. Our audience will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the events and get access to the athletes and special guests through JJ.”

Audiences can tune in to watch the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 from 6pm on Saturday, 9th September, on BBC iPlayer and Red Button.
