Police investigating the fatal road traffic incident that occurred on Wednesday on Longfield Avenue have identified the victim as seven-year-old Jack Rooke from Golcar.

Authorities are still providing assistance to Jack’s parents and are also urging everyone to respect their privacy during this distressing period.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 30 August, around 6pm, at Longfield Avenue in Golcar. A collision occurred between a black BMW X4 and Jack.

The young boy was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, but unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his thirties, was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death due to careless driving.

Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing, and the Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) is appealing to individuals who might have witnessed the collision or have information about the events leading up to it.
