FC Halifax Town is pleased to announce the acquisition of centre back Tom Wilson, who has joined the team following his departure from Belper Town.
Wilson progressed through the youth ranks at Sheffield United before becoming a part of Hallam FC after his release. The defender participated in 11 matches in the Northern Counties East League before securing a move to Stalybridge Celtic in June 2020.
During his tenure with the Celts, Wilson had a loan spell with Belper, subsequently making a permanent switch in August 2021. In his inaugural complete season with The Nailers, Wilson featured in 35 matches, finding the back of the net on six occasions. His contributions aided Belper in clinching the 5th spot in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, ultimately achieving promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division through the playoffs.
In the preceding season, Wilson retained his pivotal role for Belper, boasting 46 appearances and netting five goals. However, the campaign turned out to be less triumphant for the club, as they concluded at the bottom of the Northern Premier League Premier Division. In a fitting accolade to his efforts, Wilson was bestowed with the title of Supporters’ Young Player of the Season in his final campaign with Belper.
