West Yorkshire Police have released a photograph of a teenager who sadly lost her life in a crash on the M1 near Wakefield. Officers are making a fresh appeal for witnesses in connection with the incident.
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) has today unveiled a family photo and a tribute dedicated to Elise Thomas aged 17. Their ongoing investigation concerns a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Corsa on the M1 that took place on Saturday, August 12.
Elise, hailing from the Driffield region, sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash on the South Bound Carriageway. The incident transpired at 8:29 am, just before junction 39 (Wakefield), when the Fiesta she was a passenger in was struck by a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
Sadly, Elise passed away due to the severity of her injuries at the hospital on Friday night.
Her family paid tribute to her saying; “Elise was a beautiful soul. She was an inspiration to others and was amazingly talented with her photography. Even at such a young age she was successful. Everything she touched turned to gold”.
Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are continuing investigations into the collision and would ask that Elise’s family are offered privacy at this time.
They continue to appeal for witnesses and would ask anyone who saw or has dashcam or phone footage of the collision to contact them on 101 referencing log 438 of August 12.
