A woman has sustained severe injuries in a two-car collision on the M1 close to Wakefield. The incident involved a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Corsa, which crashed on the southbound lanes of the motorway between Junctions 39 and 40 at 8:49am.
According to a spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police, the injured woman has been transported to a hospital for treatment.
Initially, the entire road was completely shut down, but subsequently, the northbound lanes were reopened. Drivers heading southbound have been recommended to steer clear of the affected area.
