Channel 4 has greenlit an exciting new series, funded by the Diverse Indie Fund, that promises to take viewers on an unforgettable journey aboard the prestigious Royal Scotsman. This four-part series will feature the renowned actor, Alan Cumming, as he embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, exploring one of the world’s most luxurious train journeys.

Throughout the series, viewers will be treated to a captivating experience as they follow the Royal Scotsman on different legs of its journey, meandering through Scotland’s enchanting landscapes, steeped in history and culture. The show will provide a unique glimpse behind the curtain, granting access to the hardworking team at Belmond who tirelessly ensure that the train’s onboard guests enjoy the pinnacle of luxury as it speeds across the awe-inspiring Scottish terrain.

Alan Cumming will immerse himself in this opulent adventure, relishing the experience of being a passenger aboard the Royal Scotsman. At each stop along the journey, he will step off the train to partake in local activities, sharing in the wonders of Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes and wildlife.

The series was funded by Channel 4 and Motion Content Group’s Diverse Indies Fund. The Diverse Indies Fund was set up to support small and medium-sized ethnically diverse-owned independent production companies to produce new projects. The fund is overseen editorially by Vivienne Molokwu, Senior Commissioning Editor at Channel 4, and managed by Deep Sehgal, Head of Creative Diversity at Motion Content Group.
