Huddersfield Town is pleased to announce the successful completion of a contract extension with the Club’s forward, Kian Harratt. This agreement ensures his dedication to Huddersfield Town until 2026!

Originally from the nearby South Yorkshire area, Harratt became a part of our Academy during the Under 17 stage in preparation for the 2018/18 season. He made an impressive start, finding the net 32 times in 47 appearances and rapidly progressing to the Under 19 category.

In the West Yorkshire derby against Leeds United in December 2019, Harratt made his inaugural appearance in the senior squad. He then spent the rest of that season on loan with Harrogate Town, a team in the Vanarama National League at the time. Notably, he contributed significantly to their promotion to the EFL.

Recognised as the Antoni’s Memorial Academy Player of the Year after the culmination of the 2019/20 season, Harratt embarked on another loan spell during the latter part of the 2021/22 season, joining Port Vale. During this tenure, he memorably provided a crucial assist for an equalising goal in the Play-Off Semi-Final second leg. His exceptional skills were on full display at Wembley during the final, where he executed a remarkable diving header, clinching a 3-0 victory.

Upon his return from a loan period with Bradford City in January 2023, Harratt immediately captured the attention of Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson upon his arrival. His breakthrough moment occurred at Vicarage Road against Watford, where he converted a signature flicked header from close range, securing a vital triumph. Harratt has continued to maintain this promising form throughout the current season, as evidenced by his opening goal against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup at the John Smith’s Stadium earlier this month.

Huddersfield Town Manager Neil Warnock commented; “I’m absolutely delighted for Kian.

“Since I’ve been back at the Club, he’s shown an attitude to his work that I’ve not seen in a player in my managerial career to date.

“He’s been like a breath of fresh air, and he deserves everything that he gets.

“This is only the first wrung of the ladder to climb, but I’m sure he’ll have a successful career.”

Huddersfield Town Sporting Director Mark Cartwright added; “We’re really pleased to have Kian extend his contract with the Club, he’s worked incredibly hard to earn this and it’s a deserved reward.

“Similarly to Kyle Hudlin, his next challenge is to break into the First Team on a more consistent basis as he’s shown the hunger and ability in front of goal to score at this level in the past few months.

“It is always great to see someone who’s been in your Academy continue to progress at your Club, and if he continues to work as hard as he is currently, anything is possible.”
