Today, the much-anticipated second series of “The Tourist” has unveiled its initial images. These pictures provide a first glimpse of the returning cast members, Jamie Dornan (known for his roles in “Belfast” and “The Fall”) and Danielle Macdonald (recognized for her performances in “Unbelievable” and “Dumplin'”), who were both nominated for prestigious awards such as BAFTA and Golden Globe.

In these images, we witness Jamie Dornan reprising his role as Elliot Stanley, a man striving to reclaim his true identity after experiencing memory loss. Alongside him, Danielle Macdonald portrays police officer Helen Chambers, continuing their journey from the Outback. The scenes unfold against the captivating backdrop of Ireland, where the two characters encounter allies and adversaries in their quest to unveil Elliot’s enigmatic past.

As Elliot and Helen find themselves entangled in a long-standing family feud, the second series introduces a host of fresh faces. Notable additions include Detective Ruairi Slater (played by Conor MacNeill, recognized for his roles in “Industry” and “The Fall”), Niamh Cassidy (portrayed by Olwen Fouéré, known for her appearances in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Northman”), and the McDonnell family – consisting of Donal (Diarmaid Murtagh, renowned for “Vikings” and “Outlander”), Orla (Nessa Matthews, familiar from “Fair City”), Fergal (Mark McKenna, known for “Sing Street” and “One of Us is Lying”), and Frank (Francis Magee, recognized for “Kin” and “Then You Run”).

Bringing a blend of astonishing plot twists and the same distinctive comedy that resonated with audiences in the first series, “The Tourist” is poised to make its return with an even more eclectic cast of characters and heightened action sequences.

The inaugural series debuted to an audience of 11.4 million viewers in the UK, securing its status as the most-watched drama of 2022 across all platforms in the country. Its international appeal was equally remarkable, with viewership spanning across five continents, from South Korea to Scandinavia.

The series garnered significant recognition, clinching three Golden Nymph Awards at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, including the coveted Best Series award.

“The Tourist” series two is a production by Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) for the BBC, in collaboration with Stan, ZDF, and All3Media International. The series was conceived and scripted by Harry and Jack Williams (known for their work on “The Missing,” “Baptiste,” and “Fleabag”). The opening block is helmed by Fergus O’Brien (renowned for “Happy Valley” and “Gentleman Jack”), with Johann Perry (also associated with “Happy Valley” and “Gentleman Jack”) serving as the Director of Photography.

Subsequent blocks are directed by Lisa Mulcahy (known for “Blood” and “Years and Years”) and Kate Dolan (recognized for “Kin” and “You Are Not My Mother”). Overseeing production is Alex Mercer (credited for “Inside Man” and “Crossfire”), with casting direction by Louise Kiely (known for “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Normal People”).
