Celebrate the arrival of summer with A Grand Day Out, an exciting series of family fun days taking place this August in Wakefield District. Embrace the sand and sun as you join us for some unforgettable moments.

Children are invited to unleash their creativity through fun and playful activities, where they can build sandcastles and revel in the joy of a giant sand pit. There’s no shortage of amusement with funfair rides, face painting, free crazy golf, and engaging seaside-themed craft activities. Plus, indulge in delectable street food to satisfy your taste buds.

Supported by the Hepworth Wakefield’s learning team, each Grand Day Out event offers a unique opportunity for outdoor creative play. Inspired by artworks in the gallery, children can stack, build, experiment, draw, and play to their heart’s content.

Cllr Michelle Collins, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “I’d encourage everyone to go along to one or even all of the Grand Days Out that we have coming up.

“It’s a chance to enjoy a day out with friends and family, close to home, as well as keeping the kids entertained.

“There will be plenty for the kids to do and adults! So start planning your summer adventure now.”

Don’t miss the fun as the events kick off in Castleford town centre on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 August. The excitement continues in South Elmsall and Wakefield city centre for two more weekends, promising more memorable moments for families to cherish.
