FC Halifax Town suffered a 2-1 defeat in their last pre-season friendly against Radcliffe. Goals from Matt Sargent and Luca Navarro proved to be the difference, despite Town managing to equalize with a goal from 6 Triallist just after halftime.
Radcliffe took the lead after 25 minutes when Sargent capitalized on a chance and fired a shot past Town’s goalkeeper, Tom Scott. The first half remained relatively uneventful for both sides until Town managed to level the score early in the second half. A well-placed cross found the head of 6 Triallist, who headed the ball beyond Radcliffe’s keeper to equalize.
As the game progressed, Radcliffe had a dangerous attack around the hour mark, with Jordan Hulme coming close to scoring, but his curling effort missed the target. Oluwabori also had a chance for Town but his shot from distance went over the bar.
Radcliffe regained their lead in the 64th minute, with Hulme providing a perfect assist for Luca Navarro to score from close range. Radcliffe had a chance to extend their lead, but a combination of Scott’s saves, solid defence from the trialist players, and the post kept the score at 2-1.
Towards the end of the game, Town mounted a dangerous attack, but Oluwabori’s effort from a tight angle was well saved by Radcliffe’s goalkeeper, Hewelt. In the final moments, Radcliffe had another opportunity, but the shot went over the bar.
Looking ahead, FC Halifax Town will kick off their Vanarama National League season against Bromley at the Shay on Saturday, August 5th, with a 15:00 kick-off.
