Mackenzie Scurr and Ethan Newboult were the heroes of the day as Bradford Bulls Reserves emerged victorious with a 30-22 win over Huddersfield Giants at Laund Hill on Saturday.

The Bulls wasted no time in asserting their dominance, applying immense pressure on the Huddersfield line from the outset. It was during this offensive surge that Newboult expertly caught a delicate kick from Flanagan Jnr, resulting in a touchdown.

Not long after, Scurr showcased his skills as he swiftly joined the scoring frenzy. A slick passing move on the left flank sent the winger sprinting towards the try line, securing another score for the Bulls.

Innes Senior, who boasts a number of Super League appearances, managed to narrow the deficit for Huddersfield. However, their momentum was promptly halted when Harry Milnes executed a powerful crash ball, enabling Dom Waites to bag his second try in as many matches.

Will Pryce further bolstered the Bulls’ tally, adding his name to the scoresheet. Yet, it was centre Ethan Wainwright who propelled Huddersfield into their first lead of the contest.

But Huddersfield’s moment of glory was short-lived, as Newboult swiftly dashed over the try line for his second try, exhibiting impressive footwork against the Giants’ defensive line.

The lead changed hands for a fourth time as the game resumed, with Cody Downey successfully grounding the ball for Huddersfield. However, it was just before the hour mark that Bradford seized control once more. A meticulously executed set play from a scrum allowed Scurr to comfortably stroll over the line, securing his second try of the match.

With only seconds remaining, Scurr showcased his versatility by transitioning into a provider role. After executing a sensational break, he skillfully fed the supporting George Flanagan Jnr, who ultimately sealed a phenomenal afternoon’s work for the Bulls.
