The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team at West Yorkshire Police have issued an appeal for information after two men sustained injuries in a firearms discharge incident. The incident, which occurred today (Friday, 7 July) at approximately 5:10 PM, has prompted authorities to seek witnesses or individuals with relevant information.

Upon receiving a distress call, officers swiftly responded to the scene on Farleton Drive, Fagley. There, they discovered two men with injuries consistent with the discharge of a firearm. Urgent medical attention was provided, with both victims subsequently transported to a local hospital. Regrettably, one of the men sustained serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a masked male dressed entirely in black fleeing towards the Fagley area immediately following the shooting.

DCI Alan Weekes of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “Firearms offences are treated exceptionally seriously in West Yorkshire and we are conducting a full investigation into this incident which we believe was a targeted attack on both victims.

“Local Neighbourhood policing officers are conducting reassurance patrols in the area and enquiries remain ongoing at the scene.

“I am appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who saw a masked male dressed in black either approach or flee the Farleton Drive area, heading towards Fagley, just after the shooting.

“Anyone who has any information, or footage, which could assist enquiries is asked to contact HMET on 101 or online at www.westyorkshire.police/uk/101livechat referencing police log 1346 of 7 July.”
