Ryan Patient, a 24-year-old resident of Leeds Road, Huddersfield, is set to face magistrates tomorrow at Leeds Magistrates Court on charges of manslaughter. The charges are in connection with the untimely death of Jake Rainton, aged 23, following an alleged assault in Huddersfield town centre in the early hours of Saturday, July 15.
The authorities were alerted to the distressing incident by a call from the ambulance service just before 4 am on July 15. The report indicated an assault had taken place outside the popular Revolution Bar on Cross Church Street. Rushing to the scene, police officers discovered a 23-year-old man, Jake Rainton, lying unconscious.
Acting promptly, emergency medical attention was administered at the scene due to the seriousness of his injuries, which were deemed to be life-threatening. The injured man was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Ryan Patient was subsequently taken into custody in connection with the incident and has now been formally charged with manslaughter. He will appear before the morning session of Leeds Magistrates Court on July 19 to answer these charges.
Moreover, a 26-year-old man, who was also arrested in relation to the assault, has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
