October Films, a leading UK/US production company, is currently working on an exciting new project for Channel 4. This three-part series titled “Levison Wood: Walking with…” (working title) will showcase the remarkable journey of explorer and writer Levison Wood as he embarks on a mission to locate and document some of the world’s most iconic and endangered animals.
In “Levison Wood: Walking with…” (working title), Levison takes viewers on a captivating adventure to three distinct locations. The first leg of his journey leads him to Borneo, where he seeks out the majestic Orangutans. From there, he travels to Namibia, determined to track down the last surviving Desert Lions. Finally, his quest takes him to East Greenland, where he endeavours to get as close as possible to the awe-inspiring Polar Bears.
Venturing into remote and physically demanding environments, Levison immerses himself in the world of these magnificent creatures, mirroring the ways of the local inhabitants. By adopting their customs and traditions, he strives to establish an intimate connection with the animals and gain invaluable insights into their lives. Accompanied by indigenous guides and naturalists, Levison delves deeper into the unique challenges faced by these animals and their habitats, increasingly threatened by human activity and the impacts of climate change.
Throughout each expedition, Lev encounters and lives alongside the individuals who share their daily existence with these animals. He experiences firsthand the dangers that arise from the growing interaction between humans and wildlife, witnessing the conflict between tradition and modernity. Moreover, he witnesses the adverse effects of climate change on both human and animal survival. Along his journey, Levison also encounters various other animal species, both in the wild and within rescue and rehabilitation centres. In doing so, he explores the positive influence these animals can have on local communities, touching upon themes of identity, spirituality, conservation, and tourism.

Levison Wood: Walking With… (w/t) is co-produced by October Films and Blackmane Media. It is directed by Neil Bonner, the line producer is Martin Long, and the series is executive produced by Adam Bullmore, with Dave Luke as executive producer for Blackmane Media. The series was commissioned by Daniel Fromm at Channel 4 and is being distributed by Blue Ant International. Levison Wood is represented by Wolfsong Media.
